What happened this week in Classic Country Music?
Color-changing Text *****Let’s two-step through them years like a tumbleweed in a Texas twister: 1924: Gordon Stoker, born in Gleason, Tennessee, sang with the Jordanaires—Elvis, Patsy, and Jim Reeves rode their tunes like broncos at a rodeo. Gordon tipped his hat and rode off to the big honky-tonk in the sky.***** 1927: Ralph Peer, that ol’ music wrangler, corralled Jimmie Rodgers in a dusty Bristol warehouse. Jimmie sang sweet as a moonshine sip, pocketed a hundred bucks, and rode off into the hillbilly sunset.***** 1953: Randy Scruggs, Nashville-born and pickin’ like a chicken on a Junebug, jammed with Waylon, George, and Emmylou. Grammy in his pocket, he waltzed off to the Grand Ole Opry in the sky.***** 1970: Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton cut an album, “Once More,” like a pair of lovebirds on a front porch swing. “Daddy Was an Old Time Preacher Man” crooned its way to Grammy nods.***** 1974: Billy “Crash” Craddock’s “Rub It In” topped the charts, slicker than a greased pig at the county fair. Layng Martine wrote it, Crash sang it, and Ray Stevens spun the jukebox.***** 1999: Patsy Cline got her Hollywood star, shinin’ brighter than a rhinestone on a Saturday night. “Crazy,” “Sweet Dreams,” and “Walkin’ After Midnight” echoed through the holler.***** 2010: Taylor Swift’s “Fifteen” danced at the MTV hoedown, kickin’ dust with Beyonce, Ke$ha, Gaga, and Katy. Country met pop, and the barn doors swung wide.***** There ya have it, friend! Years lassoed, spun, and sung like a country ballad under a moonlit sky.***** ...

There ain't nothin' quite like a Redneck Junction Radio

listener – smarter than your average houndog, no doubt!

"Y'all probably got a hankerin' to know what sparked the name of that new EP featured in Redneck Junction Radio's New Artist Showcase and what in tarnation 'Silveradios" means, not to mention the mystery behind what Cameron James Smith's standing on in that EP cover.  Well, we did some good ol' research and went straight to the horse's mouth for answers!

(1) "Now, an EP, or Extended Play, is like a musical mix that's more than a single but not quite a full-blown album. It's got more tunes than your regular single but fewer than a full album."

(2) As for 'Silveradios," Cameron James Smith spilled the beans: "It's a mix of 'Silverado" like them trucks, and 'adios.' It's my way of sayin' goodbye to the hurt from a busted-up love,"* and " how getting out and driving around in my truck is the best way for me to say goodbye to the pain..."

(3) When we asked about that EP cover, Cameron, bein' a true Amarillo (Texas) native, told us "I'm perched on one of them cars from Cadillac Ranch, a landmark in my neck of the woods." * We looked it up on the interwebs, and lo Calillac Ranch  is a quirky roadside attraction with 10 Cadillacs standin' upright, noses buried in the ground. They're decked out in graffiti, with folks from all over the world addin' their own touch – you can see for yourself here . It's a real hoot – people leavin' their mark on them cars with initials, cat paintings, and all sorts of artistic flair.  If that ain't pure genius (ten Cadillacs buried front down in the dirt)  to attract Rednecks what is?

So there ya have it – the tale behind Cameron James Smith's 'Silveradios."  We reckon this here piece of info might end up in a future Trivia Pursuit game once our New Artist's Showcase's featured artist,  Cameron James Smith, hits the big time!
